A2-Macroglobulin (A2M), or alpha-2-macroglobulin, is a large (720 KDa) plasma protein found in the blood. It is mainly produced by the liver, and also locally synthesized by macrophages, fibroblasts, and adrenocortical cells. In humans it is encoded by the A2M gene.

Are A2M injections safe?

An A2M injection deposits a rich supply of A2M protein directly into the injured area. The injected protein molecules quickly get to work, protease binding and removing destructive enzymes from your joint tissue.

At your appointment, your blood will be drawn and spun in a centrifuge to separate it into red and yellow plasma. The yellow plasma, concentrated 6X with A2M protein molecules, will be re-injected into your joint.

The procedure is minimally-invasive, and not painful. Most patients tell us they feel an improvement in symptoms and mobility on the very same day. The anti-inflammatory effects may last for several months, depending on your circumstances.

Early, regular treatments can relieve pain, promote tissue growth, and slow or stop the progression of joint degeneration. It can even prevent or limit the onset of post-traumatic osteoarthritis.

Is PRP injections safe:

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a substance that’s thought to promote healing when injected.

Plasma is a component of your blood that contains special “factors,” or proteins, that help your blood to clot. It also contains proteins that support cell growth. Researchers have produced PRP by isolating plasma from blood and concentrating it.

The idea is that injecting PRP into damaged tissues will stimulate your body to grow new, healthy cells and promote healing. Because the tissue growth factors are more concentrated in the prepared growth injections, researchers think the body’s tissues may heal faster.

The treatment hasn’t been definitively proven. It also hasn’t been approved as a treatment by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). However, famous athletes have been known to use these injections to help heal injuries.

Are Wharton’s Jelly Injections Safe? YES! Wharton’s Jelly injections are a preferred type of therapy because the cells come from an immunoprivileged site, which means that patient-rejection is extremely rare.

The use of Wharton’s Jelly injections are well researched, safe, and effective.

However Please understand that umbilical chord tissue even though it may contain stem cells only provides cushioning and support to effected joints.

Will insurance cover this?

Currently, no insurance company will cover regenerative medicine outside of bone marrow transplants. We do, however, offer convenient payment plans for you at National Wellness Centers.

Are there certain medications that can interfere?

 Yes, certain medications and supplements may reduce the number of stem cells or interfere with your results. You can speak with your regenerative medicine specialist about any prescription medications or supplements you are taking at the time of your consultation.  

Are there any side effects?

In a very small percentage of patients, we occasionally see a minor reaction of flu-like symptoms. This typically does not last more than 24-48 hours. This demonstrates the cells’ anti-inflammatory and immune-privileged potential. Also with any injection there could be swelling and inflamation.  This usually goes away in 2 to 4 days
